Festivities are planned at my office for Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day!
One thing is certain, today is a special day. The singular focus of which is the empowerment, education and opportunity to positively influence today's youth.
While this program was originally designed for young girls, it has expanded to include young boys as well.
I believe this is a wonderful program, (with one caveat) - this type of educational experience and real-world exposure should not be limited to 1 day.
As citizens enjoying a free, capitalist economy it is both our DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY, to provide such opportunities and learning experiences on a regular basis.
Today's festivities trigger memories of 3 television shows I watched faithfully & enjoyed - I didn't know it at the time but all of them empowered and educated youth:
Kids Are People Too,
Big Blue Marble, and
Wonderama.
